These fabulous embroideries were a demonstration of the skill of the Bride-to-be, and a store of value; a dowry. Brightly coloured silks worked on a cotton ground, the ground is packed with animated flowers and stems. Beautiful and rightly revered amongst Easterners and Westerners alike, this great survivor dates to 1850. The embroidery is in excellent condition but there are several carefully patched holes to the ground.
