Antique Ziegler & Co Carpet, Ivory 327 x 416cm / 10'9" x 13'7"

Undisputably the pinnacle of Persian decorative weaving, this is an outstanding example from a workshop that produced the best decorative carpets of all time. Woven in the well known atelier of Ziegler & Co, a Swiss firm based in Manchester, UK with outposts allover North West Iran, this beautiful carpet has a milky white ground on which is laid a large design of flowers and blossoms, connected loosely by stems and vines. The pale blue, highly abrashed border, has faded slightly to nearly the same milky white and is sparsely decorated with a similar design. The real beauty of this carpet is how instantly appealing it is, and consequently so easy to live with. In exceptional condition, full original pile allover with some small old repairs at the lower end.
