Worn Serapi Carpet, North West Persia ca 1880 11'6" x 13'7" / 345 x 422cm
In its heyday, this was a top notch carpet from the Heriz district of North West Persia. Finely woven, with glowing colours and a powerful design. The border belongs to a typically much bigger carpet but only adds to the drama and charisma of this noble old piece. A much coveted ivory ground colour supports a navy blue medallion with pale yellow and green central flower, echoing the corner colour combinations, while the field is filled with beautiful flowering vines. Sadly, it has been rather worn and suffered some rather poor quality repairs, however, this is reflected in the price and the carpet still brings star power at a much reduced rate, while still being floor worthy condition.
Occasionally I also do a home trial, numerous factors can vastly change how a piece looks and feels in a room. Get in touch for more information
