Antique Fine Fachralo Prayer Rug Dated 1314 116 x 158cm / 3'10" x 5'2"

£9,500
Dated 1314, equivalent to 1893 AD, this beautiful finely woven Caucasian rug is packed full of the very best natural dyes, that glow brightly even after 130 years. Unusually fine for a Fachralo, it is another indication of the high quality and the excellence of the weaver. A golden yellow border surrounds a bulls blood red field which supports an ivory medallion with a prayer arch at the top end. A forest green central medallion is filled with various plant forms and flowers, as is the rest of the rug in a gorgeous chocolate box arrangement of twinkling, beautiful colour; Sky blue, navy blue and a fantastic, highly abrashed aubergine.
The condition is excellent, although showing light wear, the rug is mostly original, even with original kilim ends, curled over at the top. Several, finger tip sized holes have been professionally repaired in one corner otherwise the rug is untouched.
An excellent example of a rare type of rug that is therefore highly prized by collectors.
