Genje Kazak circa 1900
The crisp ivory white field supports an enlarged lattice design of shield palmettes in this Caucasian rug. Typically unfussed weaver lets the design grow organically as can be seen on the left hand side of the field, with the crazy medallion in the corner, another space filled by a human figure and various spontaneous elements have crept in here and there. All very charming and the reason why we love antique tribal rugs.
In excellent condition with high pile all over and minimal repairs.
size 140 x 215cm / 4'7" x 7'1"
