Gorgeous Kurdish Runner 3'6" x 12'4" / 107 x 377cm ca 1850

It is said that a handwoven rug with more than 8 different colours in it can be called colourful, well this rainbow has nothing less than 14 distinct colours. One of the most lovely and colourful antique rugs I have seen in a long time. To look at it is to be rinsed in nature, with a beautiful display of the best natural dyes and the forms all taken from flowers and plants. The rare ivory field is the perfect backdrop to show off the weavers skill in selecting rainbow shades; 3 reds, an orange, a yellow, 3 greens, 3 blues and one each of ivory, brown and purple. Truly stunning in aspect and confirms to me why I love dealing in these precious art objects. It still amazes me that, just by passing over some money, I can receive something in exchange that very, very few humans on this entire planet could ever produce and none of them have been alive for a hundred years or more. In full, full pile allover, with very minor cosmetic repairs to the selvedges.

Occasionally I also do a home trial, numerous factors can vastly change how a piece looks and feels in a room. Get in touch for more information
