Shekarlu 'Khan' Main Carpet 6'6" x 8'10" / 199 x 270cm
Glistening wool and colours, this mid 19th century carpet was obviously made for someone important, such as a Khan. The field is filled to capacity with a huge variety of flora and fauna- most eye-catchingly are the two prides of lions, with one single red lion posing in the middle of the main upper border. On the right and left in the upper corners are snakes and in the middle right, rotated through 90 degrees is a large single peacock. The more one looks, the more one can see special and unusual details. Some wear in places, minor restoration.
Occasionally I also do a home trial, numerous factors can vastly change how a piece looks and feels in a room. Get in touch for more information
