19th Century Greek Island Embroidery, Skyros 43 x 46cm / 1'5" x 1'6"

£5,000

The cockerel is an Ancient Greek symbol of strength and fertility. Here is a beautifully drawn and colourful, silk embroidery that was probably a cushion cover made for ceremonial purposes. The silk stitches change colour before your eyes as you move around it in a fascinating manner. A truly rare and exciting collectors item.

1'5" x 1'6" (frame)
