19th Century Silk Embroidery From Uzbekistan, A Suzani, 170 x 236cm / 5'6" x 7'9"
£8,500
Fabulous early silk embroidery on cotton ground from Uzbekistan. One of the very best Nurata suzani, with a field packed with various beautiful flowers. In each corner a magnificent bouquet issues from a vase and several jugs are placed randomly, a symbol of how important water is in the desert.
While the embroidery itself is in excellent condition, the very fine cotton background has not withstood the test of time so well and has had to be conserved and patched in places, professionally.
Now secure and ready for display.
Occasionally I also do a home trial, numerous factors can vastly change how a piece looks and feels in a room. Get in touch for more information
