Gem of a Small Kazak 105 x 163cm
Its not often I find such a jewel. This early Kazak rug is diminutive yet packs a hearty punch with its outstanding condition and colour. Like a rainbow there is pure red, apricot, yellow, greens, blues and a lovely sweet lavender. These are early colours and I believe they date the rug to around 1860. It is at the apex of weavings from the 19th century in the Caucasus- an area renowned for its striking rugs. A very collectable rug, with obvious appeal. Very much under valued.
Photographed as found, needing a deep wash and very small repairs.
3'5" x 5'4"
